RELEASE DATE: SOLD OUT Only 500 vinyl LP copies imported.
Much like their fellow countrymen, the Beatles, the Who’s catalogue was originally released in America with different packaging and tracklists. What came out in the UK as A Quick One was released in the US (in slightly altered form) as Happy Jack. One aspect of the album, the nine-minute mini-rock-operetta “A Quick One, While He’s Away,” hints at Townshend’s desire to stretch out from the confines of the pop song. All four members contributed to the songwriting on this album, as did Holland-Dozier-Holland (the Who covered “Heat Wave”). Our imported disc is pressed on 180-gram vinyl in Europe and replicates the fine warm sound only analog can bring.
DID YOU KNOW? The track “Cobwebs And Strange” was reworked on The Who Sell Out as “Heinz Baked Beans,” a food with which the band had an ongoing relationship (see the film version of Tommy for more).
