Agnetha, Benny, Bjorn and Anni-Frid, upon advice of their late manager, took the first letter of each of their names and, fortunately, didn’t christen themselves BABA. After placing third in the 1973 Eurovision Song Contest with “Ring Ring,” they went back to the drawing board and penned “Waterloo,” which won the contest the following year, making Abba the first Swedish band to take the honour. After their third album, they had enough international hits to release a greatest hits package that contained no filler. Though the group only released eight albums (not counting compilations) during their time together, their impact on pop culture worldwide has been massive. The Abba Story pulls together 20 tracks from throughout their career in an attractive package, remastered in 2004.
