RELEASE DATE: SOLD OUT
Only 500 vinyl LP copies imported.
On their debut album, replete with graffiti-styled logo and skinny ties in various degrees of knottedness, the Jam announced themselves as the first post-punk punk band. All the tunes save two were penned by the band’s Paul Weller, and there’s a tale in the two covers they chose: the Batman theme (previously covered by the Who) and “Slow Down” (the Larry Williams hit covered by the Beatles). Though the Jam never had the commercial impact in America their peers The Clash or The Sex Pistols had, they had a good run on the British charts. Recorded in a mere eleven days (just about enough time for Fleetwood Mac of that era to lay down the bass on a single song), In The City was a propitious debut. Now it’s back on vinyl, the way it was meant to be.
DID YOU KNOW? Paul Weller is now known as “The Modfather.” |
