This album came and went so quickly when it was issued in 1997 by a UK outfit that it would be nice to have it given the deluxe treatment with great photos of Martha at the time and all the track info that originally appeared on the vinyl issue in 1974.

Also, it was rumored that Martha returned to the studio with Richard for a follow-up album so if this did happen and there any masters, include them in the release.

I love this entire album and this should have been a major smash when it was released 30 years ago!

Yeah........smashed the Record Label's Budget! LOL! But yes, this great album would be a perfect set to showcase a solo Martha in the 70's!

Richard Perry was obviously a man of exceptional high standards and that translated into a big budget album project.

He obviously adored Martha though and felt that no expense being sparred approach was just what her talent deserved and considering who he had worked with prior to Martha - Carly Simon, Ringo Starr and Babs Streisand - put her in excellent company. Remember he came to Martha and asked to produce her.

I'd like this too, but only if there's bonus tracks, as I have the LP on CD already.

This album was released on CD, without bonus tracks, in 1997, by See For Miles Records Ltd.

The album number is SEE486.

The Web site shown on the back of this CD is www.seeformiles.co.uk, and if this site is still active, you may be able to find additional information and/or ordering instructions.

Yeah, Yeah, Yeah!!! Martha Reeves singing "Ain't That Peculiar", Van Morrison's "Wild Night" and "(I've Got To Use) My Imagination", as well as Hoyt Axton's "Sweet Misery"!!! She also made a non-LP '45', which right now, I can't think of the name of...

But, Hog Blast It...that and 'What Are You Doing The Rest Of Your Life?', should be put out on CD, for those (like ME) interested in 'Life After The Vandellas...!!'

Biker JEG: What a wild website U are represented by! Very interesting. Best solo MARTHA REEVES song for U all is definitely "Wild Night". And even most appropriate is, of course, THE SHANGRI-LAS' "Leader Of The Pack" -- or their "Out In The Streets" . Of course, MARTHA REEVES & THE VANDELLAS also had the hit single "Wild One (You're A Rebel)".

That MR solo "non-LP single" U mentioned may be "Love Blind" (on Arista Records)?

Richard Perry has produced Ringo Starr's "Ringo" album in 1973, in which all 4 Beatles are present, albeit never on the same track all together. That's the only post 70 album to have all 4 on 1 album.

Martha Reeves does the background vocals on one track "Oh My My". It's clear to me whether she met Richard Perry at that occasion, or she already knew him and he invited on Ringo's album. Miss Reeves never answered my question about this, although I've asked it to her both through her yahoo fan club she's signed to, at a time she answered most mails herself, and privately.

Does anyone know the answer ? Shawn ?

Greetings, JBP,

Well, I have the answer to your very significant, career-changing, great question. I personally spoke with Miss MARTHA this evening, about many things not just this question. She never met RICHARD PERRY until that RINGO STARR recording session in 1973. Remember, prior, MRR's career was strictly and tightly run by the "Motown Machine". This recording session was arranged by Diva REEVES' manager, the late and well-known RON STASNER, for her to sing on "Oh, My, My" as she was requested big time by RP himself and RINGO. In fact, MARTHA also volunteered who "the other woman" singer was. It was MERRY CLAYTON. I asked MARTHA if she knew that MERRY's real first name is "MARY" (no, she didn't).

In your post above I added the "Un" as I figured what U meant was actually that U were un-clear!

JB,

The story I heard was that Richard had contacted Martha whilst still at Motown wanting to poroduce her. He was told by the Motown powers-that-be, that they didn't allow outside production at the time.

When Martha left Motown, her management got in touch with Richard and that's how she got to be at Ringo's sessions because of Richard's plans to work with her.

Producers are in charge of everything usually at recording sessions including contracting with the background vocalists that are used on the session.

It sounds like the above post is somehow contradicting what I stated? Maybe not.

So, let's repeat and re-clarify, as my reporting is not from a "story" -- it is directly from the source, once again, and very recently this second to last week of 2004. Miss MARTHA ROSE REEVES knows precisely that it was her late manager RON who arranged her to sing at the 1973 RINGO session, since THEY requested HER. Miss MARTHA REEVES knows that the first time that RICHARD PERRY met her was at said recording session. That was the original question: When did RP meet MRR? I made a Board member point to go out of my way to get the definitive answer from the one of two people who'd know. A "thanks for the 411" would have been timely.

Moreover, MRR never spoke with RP before, either. In fact, the "response posting" contradicts itself saying that RP "contacted" MMR yet was told by "the powers that be" that he couldn't!? Thus, he did not contact her! Oh, Diva REEVES confirms exactly that!

Thanks for the answers from both of you,

It's amazing how such mysteries and different takes on a same story exist. As for myself, I'm a huge Beatles fan and collector as well, and no one within the Beatle-world seems to know how MR landed on a Ringo Starr session...

It's not time to argue about the contradictions, but rather this shows there's a real interest in MR during that period. At least we'd be 3 of us buying the Martha's sesions produced by Perry !
Anyone else ?

Gee, I see even after being EVICTED from the MMB, you still haven't passed any "basic civility" classes, have you, STONEWALL?

At the rate, you keep going, HW will EVICT you from this board, too. Then what will you do?

Wow, Scorpy86, U really don't accept factual information well (much less any criticism) even when it's from the more knowledgeable source than U, namely Motown legend Miss MARTHA REEVES!

Regarding "evictions" (are U currently having problems with your landlord) U really shouldn't speak on what U really don't know what U are talking about. I have, of course, advised the MBB of your desperate and silly post above. I have also faxed a copy directly to HW, since that seems to be a power point of interest to U. Sorry, but we won't be discussing it or U when we meet again next month. I can't say that I'm disappointed in U (I was warned that U can "fly off the handle" a long time ago by several from MBB, who are regularly in touch with me). However, I'm a bit disappointed in U. I thought U knew better. Oh, well.

"What would I do"? U gotta be kidding! Are U having a bad day? U don't know me! Among many other things, perhaps U don't know, I have a very successful, influential and powerful website. Those are three of the reasons that it has so many =PAID= advertisers! The D.R.S. file alone has had a whopping over 10,000 HTML-verified "visitors" already this month. It's a site that is interesting, unique, safe and secure -- even for Miss DIANA ROSS and her family members, i.e., siblings and children, to visit. Trust us, they do! We have the "rsvp"s! Even "@#$%'s Diana Ross Website" has now added a link to our renowned "Songs of The STONEWALL". Oh, puh-leaze don't confuse me, Ask Any Girl, with my brother, Stonewall, or try your shameless transgender outing! It's not like U use your real name....

The bottomline: RICHARD PERRY did NOT meet MARTHA REEVES in person -- nor did she ever speak with him on the phone -- until they saw each
other at the 1973 RINGO recording session. "Oh, My, My"!!!

To quote another one of your favorites, "Bless You"!

Oh the drama - spare me!

Call it whatever you like, AAG, but the word "banned" is another synonym for "evicted". In other words, you were shown the door because you just don't know how to disagree without using an uncivil keystroke just like your response to my original post.

I prefaced my account with "what I heard", I didn't say it was fact just what I had heard.

Oh and btw, the MMB community is definitely on to the others that you are "regularly in touch with" on the MMB.

Tis' a shame that some have to resort to using new monikers on the new board for fear of being detected and booted off the new board.

Everyone in the know, knows who "they are" and I must say I enjoy watching them walk that tightrope each and every time they are on board, knowing full well that another slip under their new guise, will have them booted off yet again.
"Bless You" too, because ain't love just like "the itch", doll!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Oh, My, My", Scorpy Pooh for the holicraze! At least U are calma downa but still in that conspiracy/eviction mode. What your motive is to lie against me I have no idea and really do not care. It's more than obvious from the post above -- right on this file that there's no secret about "who's who". So, why lie and pretend that there is? U are the one who's the unknown quantity. And the "MBB comm-unity"? U gotta be kidding! That is a bad joke and they'd all agree, trust me. Last time I looked over there it was "Script Timed Out Board". The time before that I read derrogatory words that if stated publicly at someone in New York City, the offender would be arrested! If I wanted to be there I would be, trust me. And, U don't know who there is in contact with me. It's amazing that would even interest U, a stranger. Firstly, I don't give out 411 that is no one's biz. Secondly, there really are too many to mention. For U, the internet boards are "a way of life" -- not to me. I'm interested in real people who I really know or that I know something definitive about -- not just a "moniker". Granted, I have some cherished friends now who I originally met via the MBB!

The "problem" errupted when after I stated verbatim what Miss REEVES said and knows, U in your thickheadedness insisted on telling us what U had "heard" as in "story" or "rumour", which at that point was moot -- and boring.

U didn't know that many people who post at the give-me-MBB-or-give-me-death Board who post here use a different moniker? What's wrong wit dat? Wow, U really are uninformed. U are so out of it, Scorp, that U think =HW= runs this Board? He more than has his hands full with THE MUSIC and that MBB! I'm sure he got a loud laugh out of that when I sent him what U wrote! Oh, if U though that -- which U did -- who do U think Subcomandante the HOS Administrator is? Board posters walking a "tightrope"? Like I said, U really shouldn't speak on what U really don't know. Hey, you're better at the non-personal, "technical" stuff.

By the way, your post was the un-civilized one, not mine! To say otherwise is to not tell the reality. Anyone can read and see for themself just two posts above who was "uncivilized". U were clearly out-and-out nasty, like U were from the backwoods of Georgia! As the owner of a personnel agency -- and in Manhattan, especially, where the competition is stiff -- I couldn't be un-civilized if I wanted to. Over the years, many classic Motown stars -- and other celebrities -- have actually been to my interesting offices! U wouldn't want to hear about all that (nor do I have the time) -- it would toss U into a rage. U were foolish to think that U would know more about Diva MARTHA REEVES than me, her longtime, close "friend". That's her word for me! Of course, I'm also a fan. However, when a "fan" like U thinks that they know more about the celebrity than the celebrity, they become a real "fanatic". Apparently, U are sadly envious of other people's real lives, real accomplishments and real connections. Try to get back to the music -- not your "Itch!".

P.S. MARTHA loves STONEWALL -- and I hope me, ASK ANY GIRL (tho I know she doesn't like my Supremes name) -- and she'll tell U the same "Spellbound" thing! If anyone runs into M.R.V. at a show, ASK ANY REEVES!

P.P.S. And I prefaced my very civilized and informative comments with "....sounds like contradicting". I even gave U "One Way Out" saying "maybe not".

As if U haven't been there before, visit new MARTHA REEVES & THE VANDELLAS at:

Aren't you the long-winded one. Where I'm from that is a telltale indicator that you have something to prove and that you aren't really about anything. What a shame.

If it makes you feel good to put others down, condescend to them or tell them what you think is the case (when it really isn't) then you keep on with your bad self.

I must have missed that day of Dale Carnegie's "How to win friends and influence people" but whatever your crusade has been since being on the MMB (where it clearly states on your member profile in the directory next to Member Status - BANNED ) and now here, you go right ahead - whatever makes you happy!

But, Hog Blast It...that and 'What Are You Doing The Rest Of Your Life?', should be put out on CD, for those (like ME) interested in 'Life After The Vandellas...!!'

The time before that I read derrogatory words on the Motown Bulletin Board that if stated publicly at someone in New York City, the offender would be arrested! If I wanted to be at MBB, I would be, trust me.

Aren't you the long-winded one. [< Scorp, always follow a question with a question mark (?)!] Where I'm from that is a telltale indicator that you have something to prove and that you aren't really about anything....

>>>>> RETORT from"The Goil" (though I'm not from NJ; that's a real b*tch): Number one, "where U come from"? I have no idea. Sri Lanka? Anyway, where I come from is no secret -- America! -- and detail in writing, when it is significant, truthful, effective, well-written and interesting (ALL that leaves U out) is what helped establish this entire U.S. of A. nation, e.g., U.S. Constiution, Bill of Rights, Declaration of Independence, etc. Ironically, I declared my independence from the fabulous MBB (who could possibly live without it -- except U, Scorpion! -- and the Un-Supreme Fanatic Maniac) back on the 31st August 2004! I left the very next day on the 1st for a Labor Day holiday vacation in Florida for a week -- with no computers! I find it queer yet amusing that it was subsequently posted in an obvious after-thought about "banned" the following month, "It was the the 3rd of September a day I'll....(sounds like a song -- oh, it is!). So, I wouldn't put too much stock -- in fact, zero -- on that obvious error. It would be like firing someone who already quit -- the prior month!

Like me, your necessary idol "HW" must find it curious that anyone would still relate to that questionable "status" of AAG. When WE meet again next week, I'll bring a print-out of your current post here at HOS -- just in case HW and I need a laugh!

>>>>> The following is what U do, Scorpy -- not me:
quote:
"If it makes you feel good to put others down, condescend to them or tell them what you think is the case (when it really isn't) then you keep on with your bad self."

.... since being on the MMB (where it clearly states on your member profile in the directory next to Member Status - BANNED ) and now here, you go right ahead - whatever makes you happy!

Does it also state Master of Arts degree in Psychology? Bachelor of Arts in Political Science? How about successful business owner in manhattan? Or, perhaps it says: elected head of a renowned, non-profit, worldwide organization? Surely it must state former President of three different Motown-sponsored Fan Clubs, when happy fans were really harmonious fans -- long before the internet boards and their obvious many drawbacks. Gotta get goin'.... my "Black Magic" c/d is nearly over and my boyfriend (Str-10) is calling me to eat!

In view of my Florida vacation back then, it simply must be a typo: TANNED!
[I'll bring it to the attention of the MBB since it's reminiscent of Martin Luther King: ARRESTED. It can give the wrong impression.]

Lastly, Scorpy86, who does Diva Reeves have a purple-framed photo of on her piano?
Choose (A) Me..... or Column (B) Ewe? "Bless U"!

Motiv8tor, your line is really funny. ROFLMA.
At the end of one of his posts, Scorpy 86 did call me "Doll". No wonder U thought motel!

Billboard Bob, I couldn't agree more about not wanting to be with a "beast"! U-2 seem to know more about him than me.

Oh, Motiv8tor, we're glad that U like one of the pix on our "Songs of The Stonewall" website (see link below) so much so that U chose the animated DRS photo as your icon at the now "old" MBB. Maybe just give a shout out as to where it came from. (By the way, U are at least the third MBB-er who has used it: "The Itch Is Back!", gladly with our permission and "blessings -- and, unfortunately, the "86" Un-Supreme Fanatic Maniac, definitely with our no-kay (and who later ridiculously lied that it had been his -- ha! ha! ha!).
