I'd personally love to see an expanded release of Karen Carpenter's solo album. The official release only had 11 tracks on it. There are at least 7 or 8 others in the vaults that are good enough to be included as bonus tracks. I would like to see this set issued with extensive liner notes, interviews with Phil Ramone (producer), Richard, and any comments that can be dug up regarding the set from Karen. It might also be nice to have detailed studio notes....

AND what about an expanded release of Richard's "Time" abum? Surely, as much as he records, there is additional Richard Carpenter solo material in the vaults...

I agree about "Time". Granted it didn't sell very well but it certainly does have merit and, as I recall, it wasn't available on CD for very long before it fell out of print. While I wouldn't put it into mass distribution, I think it'd be perfect for Select.

I agree that Karen's solo album needs to be expanded and remastered. It's brilliant and well-deserved!

Karen's solo album is splendid. I think it's fabulous. I really feel the remiaing 11 songs should be issues on it's own disc.
Here is a list of the remaining songs:
Keep The Lovelight Burning
Midnight
Love Making Love To You
It's Really you
Truly You
Jimmy Mack
Something's Missing
Don't Try To Win Me Back Again
I Do It for your Love
Basket Case
Church Choir (Wild)

all except "basket case" and "church choir" have been leaked to the internet and can be downloaded from various file sharing sites. The sound quality of these are fair, but the songs are great. I'm anxiously awaiting release of these songs so I can finally have crisp clear recordings.

"I Second That Emotion"!

Last month, it was very nice to hear a few of KAREN's holiday songs played many times on various radio stations here in New York City!

It is really interesting that these other unreleased tracks are never mentioned by Richard Carpenter in any interviews or books. I wonder why?

He also never mentions the album he produced in 1989 for a japanese singer Akiko Kobayashi - Has anyone else had the pleasure of hearing that CD?

I have read a number of accounts that report that the left-over tracks from Karen's solo project were considered unreleasable. Some reports state that they were never completed. Some say Karen's voice was not very good on thos recordings, while others criticize the songs as being poorly written.

I happen to know that all of those claims are false. I have copies of the unissued tracks, and they are actually quite good. Several rate right up there beside those that were actually released.

I would love to see a "The Complete Karen Carpenter Solo Recordings" set with extensive liner notes from Phil Ramone, who produced the solo material, quote from Karen, and so forth. Richard seems to be a little jaded about these solo recordings, thus maybe he should steer clear of such a project.

That said... I would still love to see an expanded version of Richard's "Time" LP on CD. There were several outstanding songs on that LP, including the Dusty Springfield and Dionne Warwick vocals.
