Two live albums from the '70s on A&M; from Burt Bacharach and Sergio Mendes have yet to surface on CD anywhere in the world.
The two in question:
Burt Bacharach IN CONCERT (AMLS 68279) and Sergio Mendes & Brasil '77 IN CONCERT (AMLS 64378) were both issued on LP in Great Britain and probably Japan, but neither were ever released in any form here in the United States.
Both are excellent albums. Burt's concert is remarkable for its precision - one can scarcely imagine a live orchestral group to sound as good as it does on this album. It rivals studio perfection.
Sergio's IN CONCERT is a great companion piece to the LIVE AT EXPO '70 album. The vocalists on the earlier '70 album are Lani Hall and Karen Philipp, while the personnel changed for the IN CONCERT effort to Gracinha Leporace and Geri Stevens, making for an interesting comparison. Going on very bad memory, but was this supposed to be part of a Hip-O box set containing all of Bacharach''s A&M; and Kapp recordings, or no? This is one recording I'd love to hear. Rudy, chief cook and bottle washer from A&M; Corner.
