There have never been CD releases of any of the albums from Julius Wechter & The Baja Marimba Band on CD (save for the first one in limited release in Japan only). These deserve to see the light of day. The great Julius Wechter not only played on most Tijuana Brass albums, but headed up his own band on the A&M; label.
Only one or two greatest hits-type packages exist on CD, neither of which are enough for the true fan of these long-lost treasures.
Please release the original albums, either as two-fers or singly.
They are:
BAJA MARIMBA BAND (SP 104)
BAJA MARIMBA BAND RIDES AGAIN (SP 4109)
FOR ANIMALS ONLY (SP 4113)
WATCH OUT! (SP 4118)
HEADS UP! (SP 4123)
FOWL PLAY (SP 4136)
DO YOU KNOW THE WAY TO SAN JOSE? (SP 4150)
THOSE WERE THE DAYS (SP 4167)
FRESH AIR (SP 4200)
AS TIME GOES BY (SP 4298)

There was also that three-CD, 36-song collection on Timeless Music, in addition to the Japan A&M; "Digitally Remastered Best" (which had a dismal song selection) and the "Best Of" issued by Collector's Choice (identical to the Japan release except for four tracks which were replaced...making a better collection out of it).
Two-fers may be the only way to go on these, since the popularity of the BMB isn't as big as it is with other A&M; acts of their day. (Which is odd, since the BMB made numerous TV appearances, including commercials.)

The late Julius Wechter was a wonderfully talented individual who was a major player as a L.A. based session musician before gaining fame as leader of the infamous Baja Marimba Band. Whether as a composer, arranger or musician, Julius Wechter made great music that really deserves to be heard by new generations of listeners. Steve Sidoruk

I've become a fan of their's and outside of a couple of compilations, there's nothing available. Its kind of sad, I'm stuck searching at Goodwill, used record stores and e-bay. For a band that has been popular for over three decades, we shouldn't have to put up with this.

Does UNIVERSAL GROUP know this band even EXISTS?! The Japanese have yet to reissue their stuff in its entirety! C'mon, HIP-O!
Yes, it's BMB ALL THE WAY!!! Their catalog deserves a shot at Reissues!! Their music is great and the covers are, too!
Yeah...! And love the...er, "running gag" on there...!
Peace! ...and Ride On!!
