Hopefully, in the next few weeks, we will have at least SOME releases from the country music genre. There's been tons of reggae (Which is quite limited in appeal), but no country releases to speak of on hip-o yet. Considering they have at their disposal a great deal of the catalog of Brenda Lee, Barbara Mandrell, Roy Clark, Tanya Tucker, Donna Fargo, and Ray Price. So far, the country genre has been totally ignored... here's hoping we see some soon!

I agree! We need some country music out there. PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! release Barbara Mandrell's ABC/MCA catalog! I've had my old LPs converted to CD, but you can still hear some of those old pops and scratches in the background. I would GLADLY invest in quality, re-mastered editions of her albums. But...please don't release them in the mini-LP format. I would prefer either the standard jewel case or a digipak.

I'm not much of a country music fan, but I do agree that there could be a bit more variety in Hip-O Select's reissue campaign. Ten of the last 11 Select Direct releases, for example, have been of the r&b;/soul/Motown variety. They are well done, of course, and I even own a couple, including Edwin Starr and Blinky's "Just We Two." But how about some rock and roll? Or, yes, even some country? '50s rockabilly? '60s psychedelia? '80s new wave?

And speaking of country music, could we get Olivia Newton-John's first two country albums back onto CD here in the US? LET ME BE THERE from 1973 and IF YOU LOVE ME LET ME KNOW From 1974 were available for about five minutes in the '80s and quickly disappeared (along with most of her '70s catalog). When they turn up on eBay they end up selling for ridiculous amounts of money.

Hey David!
In the part of the world I live in, "country music" is much more limited in appeal than reggae. I didn't even know Motown produced any country music acts! (Other than perhaps "The Supremes Sing Country Western and Pop"!)
