Hi-

Dunno if Hip-o would ever wanna dip their toes in the genre of Children's Christmas music, but SURELY someone there was a child in the 70's........

Does anyone remember the Peter Pan Caroleers? They put out a few Christmas albums 'back in the day' with such chestnuts as:

Who's That Up On The Roof
Icicles, Holly, Red Berries and Snow
10,000 Santa Claus' (and not one gift for me!)
Santa Claus is Coming To Town
The Christmas Tree that Ran Away
The Day Before the Night Before Christmas
Gonna Hang Up My Stocking and Fill It Full Of Dreams
Where Is Christmas
I Want an Elephant For Christmas
The Weathermans Christmas Prayer
Three Hundred and 64 Days in the Year
The North Pole Express

Does ANYONE remember this album?

And any chance of getting it on CD?

There is a WHOLE other discussion board out there on the net for folks who are looking for this.......

Cheers and Happy Holidays!

What a coincidence! I had a few friends and neighbors who had these Peter Pan albums. I recall song #9 (don't wanna say the title) as it had such an odd title.

I must say Mary B. that your review of the Diana Ross concert was even more exciting than the professional reviewers -- although they all rightfully heaped Supreme praise on DER, too. U had the magic touch in your description. See my file re: DER concert at "Motown Select Corner" here at the MO-town Square. "Reflections"!

Thanks for the compliment, and again, thanks for posting Diana's 'set'.

I think it helps when the person reviewing Diana actually knows a little about the performer.....lol....

My Mother info'd me that she believes that the PETER PAN CAROLEERS actually started in the 1950s with the beginning of the "Wonderful World of Disney" on television. They began, apparently, from the Christmastime t.v. shows of "WWOD". They must have then started recording their holiday songs and touring. As I recall in the 1970s from other people's collections, PPC had many albums over the years. I also remember hearing their versions of "Rudolph", "Frosty", "Santa" and my fave "Parade of The Wooden Soldiers". It depends on which record labels (PPC may have been on multiple labels over the years) as to whether Hip-O-Select would handle distribution. Let's see if any of them are under the UMG umbrella?

While Motown/Hip-O-Select are maybe at it with Disney's PETER PAN CAROLEERS, they should surely and sweetly release -- with a spoonful of sugar: "DIANA ROSS & THE SUPREMES Sing Disney".

I loved this album. I am hunting through my mothers' house tomorrow, in an attempt to find it, but I don't think I have anything that will play vinyl anymore, anyway. Did you say that you found it on CD somewhere?

Greetings, K-Max:

We're glad that some activity has been generated on the PETER PAN CAROLEERS. Miss Mary Bee mentioned "record albums" and so did I -- and so did my Mother. That's what one of our questions is, whether any the PCC's Christmas albums are on c/d?

We look forward to whatever 411 that U may discover at your Mom's house tomorrow. Plz. let us know. 'Tis the season. Hopefully, MB is checking out some sources, too? This pre- pre- pre-Xmas weekend, I'm going to the hugely holidayed-up Times Square area to a few of the biggest record stores in the world! I'll inquire about and look for the PCC.

At the huge record stores today in Midtown Manhattan, U'd think it was Xmas eve with the loaded and last-second shopping. There were no PETER PAN CAROLEERS c/d's there. However, I have no less than three different record store clerks who will search their computer inventories when they get the chance over the next few days and call me either way! Stay tuned!

I was able to get this "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town" recording and several other Children's Christmas recordings by The Caroleers and The Peppermint Kandy Kids through THE MUSIC LOCATOR, a music search group.

Their webpage is www.themusiclocator.com
and their e-mail is [email protected]

OK-

I was able to locate a guy that had a copy of his LP transferred to CD, and is selling copies for 10.00 each, plus 5.00 s/h.

If this guy can do it, (and I guess he's been making a lot of them) SURELY Hip-O can! :0)

After years of searching, I have the album (Elephant for Christmas, 10,000 Santa Clauses, etc) which has been transferred to CD. If you are interested in a copy, you can e-mail me.

I purchased the record last year and had it burned to CD, let me know if you are interested in a copy, it has all the songs you are looking for. If you could send me ten bucks to cover the cost of cd and shipping I would be happy to send you a copy.

Julie, you're in luck! If U'll just read above a few posts, U'll see that U can get the P.P. Caroleers via members right on this HOS board.

I think that a good holiday theme song for THE REPUBLICANS next year, ironically, should be by the "Peter Pan" Caroleers: "I Want An Elephant For Christmas". Really!! After all, THE DEMOCRATS already have Louie Prima's holiday song, "Dominic the Donkey".

Meanwhile, next year, if they can get this PPC Xmas album, HOS should consider its release.

Ooops! Gotta go! Somebody's up on the roof!
