As I have now worn out TWO cassettes of La Toya's 1980 solo debut album, isn't it time for fans to have this on CD??? I think it may have been reissued on CD in Japan, but is long out-of-print.

This is really a fun album, and contains the classic disco hit "If You Feel The Funk" and the Michael Jackson penned-and-produced sultry jam "Night Time Lover"! This was Toy's most commercial release, peaking at #113 on the Billboard 200 and spending a healthy 16 weeks on the chart. The singles did well, too, especially the afore-mentioned "If You Feel The Funk (Shake Your Rump)", which hit #40 R&B; and #17 Dance/Disco. Players on this hot set included:
Maurice White
Billy Ocean
Ray Parker Jr.
Michael Jackson

Now that La Toya is hot again, in Billboard's Dance Top 15 with her new single "Just Wanna Dance", and a new full-length album, Startin' Over, to be released in September, I think the time is right for a Select Direct reissue of her classic debut!

Check it out!

I knew U were "back"! I didn't know U were "black"? Probably a typo! Unfortunately, on these boards, U can't correct your own name!? Many have tried to initial cap their name after misspelling it with a small letter such as "marysupreme" should be "Mary Supreme". But, they can't do it!?

Thanx for all the 411 on the new and improved "Toy" -- w/ a hit!

I thought 'Heart Don't Lie' was La Toya's best-selling LP? Maybe, maybe not. I've contacted Sony about possibly reissuing that LP, as it's pure 80's fun. I haven't heard the entire 1980 LP, but I would like to get ahold of that one also. Good suggestion!

Hi, Elle!

Actually, although "Heart Don't Lie" was TOY's biggest (and only) Hot 100 pop hit (peaking at #56), the album of the same name only reached #149 on the Billboard 200. La Toya Jackson (1980) reached #116. I think Heart Don't Lie was released on the Private label? Her first two LPs came out on Polydor.

We need more La Toya!!!

BTW, LaToya is slated to be a presenter at the World Music Awards on September 15th!!!

LaToya/Toya/Toy will be on T/V (pun intended) this
Sunday, Sept. 12th @ 12 noon (EST) and Monday evening, September 13th (how appro) @ 7:30 p.m. (EST) on the national entertainment show, "Access Hollywood". In many areas, "Access Hollywood" also repeats late night (appx. 1 a.m.). The I/V will be about Toy's renewed success and new look -- and maybe even something about the "King" of Pop (MJJ)!

Who could or would knowingly listen to or patronize that DITZ? I really can't believe all has been forgiven in regards to her airheaded behavior with that husband when she totally dissed and shamed her mother. She'd have to have a bag on her head and Latoiya Williams doing her vocals to get me to carry her cd to the checkout counter. There are so many deserving talented people out there who never get a chance. I truly feel she blew hers.Who knew I'll be dipped in ----!..Never say never...and It's who you know and she must have known a whole lot more than she let on I'd bet!
tell me I'll never be alone....

I'd LOVE to have her first four albums on CD!!! The Japanese imports are pretty expensive :( and they don't have the 1st album as far as I know.

Yes, we desperately need La Toya's first two albums reissued on CD. Both are enjoyable and well-produced records that perfectly embody the spirit of early 80s disco and RnB -- sounds which are back in style today!

It wouldn't even be necessary to release both albums seperately...combine the two on one CD and everyone benefits!

I'd love to have her early albums on CD! Especially "My Special Love" and "Heart Don't Lie"

Her 1989 album Bad Girl has been released on tons of budget labels over the years so someone must be buying them. I expect Nightime Lover would attract the Jacko fans too.

Seriously, we NEED these on CD!

"Night time lover", "If you feel the funk" and "Stay the night" - all delicious disco gems that need to be rediscovered!

Yeah, they are very short albums, they would easily fit. Separate ones would be nicer though.

With all of the jackson controversey this year, La Toya albums reissued on cd is exactly what the public needs!

I have these albums on vinyl, but nothing beats cd quality sound!

Someone PLEASE get these re-issued. Unlike so many of the requests on this forum, La Toya is actually planning a comeback.....and has had a recent Billboard hit!
if you feel the funk shake your rump!

TIIB:
Yes, "Heart Don't Lie" was on Private Eye or something like that, owned by Sony, if I did my homework. I thought she only had 1 LP prior to "Heart Don't Lie" - my bad. Still a good LP though - the gem is the opening track "Think Twice" (also the flipside to "Hot Potato"). Speaking of "Hot Potato", I was at Half Priced Books several months ago, and found the 12" vinyl of the single, with a dub on the flipside. Not a bad song.
