Subject: Early ABBA (Bjorn & Benny)

Posted by TomLaMotown on 24-Jun-2004 1:17:50 AM
Hi there. Next to my Motown "thing", I'm a much bigger fan of ABBA than I ought to admit... The first album where all four ABBA members worked together was the 1970 Swedish-only album Lycka, issued on the Polar label and just credited to Bjorn & Benny. While being mostly in Swedish, you can already hear the ABBA sound coming together, especially as B&B; wrote all their own songs. I would love to see an international CD release of this (it appeared on scandinavian CD in 1991) along with the related English, German and Japanese language bonus tracks from the period. Anyone with me?

And while we're on the subject. Agnetha & Frida's solo CD's desperately need to be remastered and include the B-sides & 12" mixes.

FRIDA:
Something's Going On
Shine

AGNETHA:
Wrap Your Arms Around Me
Eyes Of A Woman
I Stand Alone

Yay, somebody's with me There must be more of us out there, come out wherever you are... THanks for publishing the list ABBAFanUSA. Also I would love to see an edition of the Spanish album Gracias Por La Musica with the gorgeous original artwork rather than the boring Oro packaging although this would really be an aesthetic thing... Maybe you guys could just do the artwork and sell it so we could put our Oro CDs in it?

Don't forget the U.S. 7" remix of Faltskog's "Can't Shake Loose," which actually cracked the Top 40. Never reissued on CD.

Since Agnetha already had a Greatest Hits of her English hits, it's time for Frida to have one too. The tracklist could include:

I Know There's Something Going On
Shine
Here We'll Stay (solo single version)
Heart Of The Country (single edit)
To Turn The Stone (single edit)
Come To Me (I Am Woman)
Time (duet with B.A. Robertson)
I See Red
Twist In The Dark
As Long As I have You (with Ratata)
Sal****er
Tell Me It's Over

Bonus tracks:
I Know There's Something Going On (single edit)
Shine (12" maxi version)
