Now that we have =ALL= heard so much about Diva DIANA's much-anticipated, much-publicized, well-attended and highly-successful "Forever" U.S. concert tour -- and even saw DER on "The View" about the tour and life -- let's have the concert on compact disc! It has been too many years since a Queen ROSS concert has been on c/d! This very full program would be perfect for a two-c/d set. U can picture the beginning of the second c/d with "Reflections". If necessary for space, a couple of the "LSTB" songs could be eliminated (as not all were sung at any one concert). We know from reviews and reports that the DER show varied from one-and-three-quarter hours (105 minutes) to two hours (120 minutes) max. The 'composite' concert songlist below is surely a DIANA ROSS career "Super Hits Live!", including eight (8) SUPREMES' songs* (one for each SUPREME!): 00. "Overture" 01. "Take Me Higher" 02. "I Ain't Been Licked" {new theme} 03. "My World Is Empty Without You"* 04. "Where Did Our Love Go"* 05. "Baby Love"* 06. "Stop! In The Name Of Love"* 07. "You Can't Hurry Love"* 08. "You Keep Me Hangin' On"* 09. "Touch Me In The Morning" 10. "Love Hangover" -------------------------------------------------------- 11. "Love Child"* 12. "It's My Turn" 13. "Reach Out, I'll Be There" 14. "It's My House" 15. "The Boss" 16. "Ease On Down The Road" (The Wiz) ----------------------------------------------------------- 17. "Reflections"* 18. "Promise Me You'll Try" 19. "Upside Down" 20. "Your Love" 21. "Mirror, Mirror" --------------------------------------------------------------------------- 22. "Good Morning Heartache" (Lady Sings The Blues) 23. "Fine And Mellow" (LSTB) 24. "Don't Explain" (LSTB) 25. "God Bless The Child" (LSTB) 26. "My Man" (LSTB) {audience request} 27. "I Cried For You" (LSTB) 26. "Why Do Fools Fall In Love" --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 29. "Do You Know Where You're Going To" (Mahogany) 30. "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" 31. "Endless Love" --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 32. "I Will Survive" 33. "The Best Years Of My Life" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Notes: Broken line indicates DER off-stage costume changes. Typically, 28 to 30 of the above 33 songs were performed at each concert. ![]() ![]()

I'm afraid Hip-o wouldn't be able to release any recent concert of Diana Ross, as she is not signed to Motown/Universal anymore.

She's not?? When did that happen & if so, why is she still listed as an artist on the Motown website?

quote: That is a crucial point and, unfortunately, we probably will never have this DER "Forever" concert legitimately released on c/d With the beginning of the New Millennium, DIANA ROSS had an unusual relationship with Motown Records, under the UMG umbrella, whereby she wasn't technically "signed" but she could submit an album project for considered release, if she wanted. So, exactly what year she is legally not with Motown, as MM inquired, I'm not sure. Comandante TT could "411" us!

quote: I checked with several associates -- nothing official on this four-day American holiday weekend -- and most of them believe that while Miss DIANA ROSS definitely does not have any signed record contract that she still has that "right of first refusal" deal with Motown. In other words, she has to go to M-town first w/ any record project!? That's what I, personally, can't say for sure at this moment. It is curious then that DER is, as MM stated, listed as a current Motown artist. I think that the only classic Motown artist currently with Motown is Steveland. ----------------------------------- VIZIT: Diana Ross & Supremes, Temptations, Shangri-Las, Sinatra!, Ronettes, Four Tops, Martha Reeves & Vandellas, Jim Morrison & Doors, Otis!, Mary Wells, Mamas & Papas, Marvelettes, Judy!, et al. at: www.STONEWALLvets.org/songsofStonewall-5.htm |

See updated DIANA ROSS "Forever" concert songlist as the first post above. This was a team effort. Thanx to ALL of the Hip-O-Select Board members who e-mailed me with additional 411, especially the ones on DER's "My Man".

AAG-
Thanks for posting Diana's music set from her recent tour. I was in such awe after the concert, I had no idea which song came when.
Now I have to custom make my own Diana CD! :0) [ edited 1 time(s), last @ 29-Nov-2004 10:46:03 AM ] |

Supreme Greetings, Mary Bee (and other concert SUPREMES) --
Yes, U can now make your c/d's from the DIANA ROSS concert songlist! So many people supremely and nicely e-mailed me the concert 411 from many different cities -- Atlantic City, Los Angeles, Denver, Chicago, Phoenix (Rising), San Diego, Cupertino (CA), Gay Frisco, Minneapolis/St. Paul and let's not forget the Motor City -- that I was able to precisely organize that fabulous "composite" DER songlist. A few songs such as "Reach Out, I'll Be There" and "Promise Me You'll Try" were only sung at a couple of venues. And, "My Man" at one (Detroit)! Again, MB, thanx for your exciting and descriptive DER revu!
"Roll down the gangway so they'll see that it's SHE...." Diva DIANA's next Supreme tour-de-force of the "Forever" concert tour in early 2005! DIANA ROSS will be on the "Billboard Music Awards" and is scheduled to perform! Will she sing one of the 30+ songs from her recent tour -- which we hope will eventually be on c/d one way or the other? Since the Queen of Motown will be presenting one of the Princes of Motown, STEVIE WONDER, with the prestigeous "Century Award", no doubt DIANA will be singing a WONDER-ful song! The show airs on Wednesday evening, December 8 @ 8 p.m (EST) on the Fox network. Enjoy! DER sang: "I Just Called To Say I Love You" and "For Once In My Life"!! ![]()

I am proud and admited Diana Ross Fan. So it goes without saying How much I would love to have a Cd/dvd of her recent shows. Diana has not performed this well in at least 10 years. (she was pretty darn good on the "Take me Higher" tour) and I also loved "Return to love" but I think she really recommited herself to "performing" again. There were not a million "sing with me" or 20 mintues of her running in the audience (neither can I say I didn't like, but again I am a DIE hard fan) This was a concert of total professonial Performing.
