I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to have "The New Soul of the Platters" with Barbara Randolph on CD. Ms. Randolph passed away and the LP, plus any tracks with her in the vaults would be a nice tribute. You already released a Motown collection, so there must be interest in her.

When was this album released and on what label? Also, who owns the Musicor masters? I'd love you see their three Musicor albums, with singles and unreleased stuff on CD...

Keith - If I recall correctly, this was the group's final album for Mercury, with Sonny Turner on lead, wasn't it? But - I thought the jury was still out on whether it featured the vocals of Ms Randolph, Betty Jackson or Sandra Dawn - unless you know otherwise..?
And - I've no idea who owns the Musicor catalogue (this week) - it seems to shuffle around a bit!
PS - there is of course the Complete Mercury sessions box set from Bear Family. But, I guess it'd be a very dedicated collector who'd shell out 153 on the 9CD set just to get hold of that one album!

I have the LP and Barbara Randolph is pictured on the back cover and mention is made of her voice. I guess I just assumed the female lead tracks on that LP are her, but I have no proof. Oh, and yes the LP came out on Mercury.

Gusto owns the Musicor masters and they have been licensed and reissued by many labels.
